Brian ‘Docta’ Dawe – Live.

Posted by Brian 'Docta' Dawe On August - 14 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

It has been over a year since I have released an official mix! I collaborated with my good friend DJ Spillz about six months ago to release “The Dirty House” hotel, but have not has a solo mix since “Operating Tables”. I decided to go a different route this time by releasing a mix recorded LIVE in the club. I thought this would be a good way to showcase how I spin in a packed venue, so if you haven’t heard me spin live then download this mix now! I incorporate a little bit of everything in this one, house bangers, electro, moombahton, and of course some dubstep.

Here it is, (you can download directly from soundcloud).

20 Questions w/ DJ A-Rock

Posted by dLux On August - 4 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Back like cooked crack (aye!), it’s 20 Questions. This week we are talking to the DJ that has the best shoe selection in Orlando, DJ A-Rock.

A-Rock, like our last participant, DJ Rincon, is not only DJing in Downtown Orlando, but he has taken his show on the road with traveling shows, that being the Dew Tour.

Whether its the beginning of the month at Vain, scaring people at Blue Martini on Mondays with Dubstep (or opening for Lil’ Jon, no big deal), playing a more chill vibe at Ember on Tuesdays, or his creme de la creme gig at Rok Room on the weekends, to say that he keeps himself busy is an understatement. A-Rock is also one of the DJs in Orlando keeping scratch techniques/routines in his set and for that, like Tosh, we thank you.

1. Weapons of choice? (Equipment, mixer, software)
Technic 1200′s, Rane TTM-57, Pioneer 800, Serato.

2. Favorite genre to spin?
All of them! No but seriously, I like all types of music. I try and keep it as diverse as possible. Keeps it fun.

3. Favorite producer?
Toss up between Tensnake and Louis La Roche.

4. What are you listening to in your car?
Carte Blanche – White Man On The Moon

5. Banger of Summer 2011?
Let’s face it, Give Me Everything – Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Nayer & Afrojack is a huge. (Agreed.) Dr. Gonzo Anthem – Crookers is ridiculous.

6. Most slept on song of 2011?
Man, music comes out lightning quick. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but some songs don’t even get a chance. So I’d say two songs that if people don’t know about, should check… ION – D.I.M. and TAI and Eargasm – Black Raw.

7. Who influenced you early in your career?
I got started because I saw an Incubus show back when I was 16, and watching Kid Kilmore manipulate samples into the live band sets was amazing to me. A.M. 100%. Z-Trip. X-Ecutioners. A-Trak. KLEVER. Enferno. Magic Mike. DJ NOVA.

8. Song you hate getting requests for?
“Do you have that birthday song?” “Can you play something I can dance to?”

9. Where was your first weekly?
Red Coconut Club @ Citywalk.

10. Where can we find you now?
In my studio answering these questions. Haha. Ember on Tuesdays & Fridays, 1st Thursdays @ VAiN, Blue Martini Mondays, & Rok Room. Nothing against my residencies, but Rok Room Sundays is by far my favorite party. I get to play WHATEVER I want. It’s a great vibe, and the energy is always on point. I’m also out on the 2011 Dew Tour this summer. I’m also starting to play outside of Orlando a lot more so it’s been nice.

Switch!

You are an avid sneaker freak, so lets find out what kicks make the man…

11. Favorite pair if you had to choose?

MAN, I can only pick one??? Well I can’t so I’ll provide a pic of my top 5…

Dunk Haze: These mean A LOT to me. Last picture most people saw of A.M. he was throwing out the first pitch at a Mets game in New York. I came across these at the Dunk XChange earlier this year, and got a great deal on them.
Jordan III Black Cement: Quite possibly the greatest sneaker of all time
Bottom Row:
Nike Air Trainer III from DJ AM’s Collection
Nike Air Yeezy
Nike Dunk Goldenrod : I have 3 pairs. Such a great, clean, colorway.

12. Go-to pair that you’re rocking right now?
Nike Dunk Low Splatter.

13. Upcoming release you are looking forward to?
SB has been on point with some of their releases this year, from the Liberties to the Space Jams. Jordan has killed it with the Retro III releases and I’ve been lucky enough to cop em all, so I’m looking forward to the Black Cements releasing later this year.

14. Most paid for a single pair and which ones?
I had to cop my Black Cement III’s off EBAY, so I paid a lil bit for em. Luckily I received the Yeezy’s as a gift or else that would have cost some mint.

15. High tops or Low Tops?
Depends on the day, weather, fit, etc.

You can get with this, or you can get with that….

16. iPhone or Android?
iPhone allllll dayyyy. Instagram YUH!

17. Regular or V-Neck?
V-Neck, but I collect Vintage T’s so I have A LOT OF LOVE for the crew neck. LOL

18. Skinny Jeans or Baggy?
Baggy jeans just don’t look right.

19. Fitted or Snapback?
Snapbacks are in right now, but a fitted cap is timeless.

20. Any final words?
Thank You to Last Nights Hype for including me in “20 Questions”. I appreciate it 100%. If anyone wants, stay up with me on twitter @DJ_AROCK or Like http://www.facebook.com/DJAROCK1

No, thank YOU DJ A-Rock for being another great addition to 20 Questions, our weekly feature on DJs, photographers, and anyone else is Orlando making their own lane for themselves. Be sure to check out all our past entries in 20 Questions with Kid Judah, DJ Y-Not?, and DJ Rincon.

20 Questions w/ DJ Y-Not?

Posted by dLux On July - 11 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Back up in yo ass with the resurrection its 20 Questions. This week we feature the Self-Proclaimed Sandwich King himself, DJ Y-Not?.

DJ Y-Not? has been around the Orlando area for about as long as I can remember going out honestly. His extremely diverse range is really something special and his SoundCloud was actually the soundtrack to me chilling by the pool a couple weeks ago, as it has been perfect for when I first wake up and just want something on but nothing too committing. Whether its taking rare 90s acapellas and putting them over old-school soul records with ease, or scratching the absolute shit out of some battle records…dude is a beast.

Lazy Afternoon warm up 6 12 2011 by SIRYNOT

Funny story actually, when I was just starting to muster enough courage up to play in public places and felt that I had a solid mixtape to back myself up with, one of the first people I gave it to was DJ Y-Not?. I remember going to Saturday/Thursday and always finding myself glued to his sets in the den. They were everything that I listened to, that I felt everyone else should be listening to when they go out, but also sprinkled in enough music that everybody listened to, to make it all just work. He continues that with his latest party, Lazy Afternoon Sundays. I saw Klever when they brought him to Eye Spy and it was a good ass time. Chill atmosphere, incredible DJ, even more incredible smelling weed, good people, what more could you want? Work with me people.

1. Weapons of choice?
Two 1200s and a Rane 57, shout out to Sir Otto.

2. Favorite genre to spin?
I go through little phases with it where I discover and re-discover old music. Right now I’m really digging funk, boogie and disco edits. Although, I’m not sure there is demographic in Orlando that really appreciates my grown folk steelo. Oh and I’d like to go on record and say that I give EVERYTHING a chance and every genre has it’s gems. I don’t get hung up on catch words like “dubstep” and “Moombathon” though. New DJ’s get so absorbed in certain things and they miss out on many of essentials .

3. Favorite producer?
The Mizell Brothers.

4. What are you listening to in your car?
In my car, I listen to a lot of mixtapes. I don’t have an iPod hook up in my car or an ipod for that matter so I like to set it and forget it. I’ve been really enjoying Jayceeoh’s “Super 7″ mixtape series, keep all 4 of those on deck, freshness. I stay on sound-cloud grabbing LIVE mixes, the human element (fuck ups) is beautiful. With that being said some of these Ableton mixes are real creative, been bumping Breakbot “Lazy Sunday Selectah” mix. Perfect laid back summer driving soundtrack.

5. Banger of Summer 2011?
“I’m on one.”, hands down.

6. Most slept on song of 2011?
Every song that was released, people don’t even have time to really digest music anymore with the volume of ish that hit’s the interwebs every day.

7. Who influenced you early in your career?
I grew up in a suburb outside of Portland Oregon and at the time, DJ’s Wicked, Bless 1, and Void we’re my biggest influences coming up. Used to go to all the hip-hop shows early to check the opening DJ set the vibe.

8. Song you hate getting requests for?
Any request…I hate.

9. Where was your first weekly?
My first weekly was a Monday at Tatame in Winter Park. We used to hold it down and guzzle Saporros and Sake like it was going out of style. Around that same time I started playing Cleo’s which I’ve been in for 5+ years or so. Weekly’s can be fun but tedious.

10. Where can we find you now?
In the Streets. I’m not as busy as I would like to be these days but I just signed up for the DJcity mp3 pool and am gonna download all the top 40 electro bangers. All jokes aside I’m really focused on helping continuing to build the Lazy Afternoon series. In the past year we’ve had some heavy DJ’s come through Craze, Klever, Kon, Nu-mark, DJ Day, Questlove, Pete Rock, Rich Medina, Maseo etc. We’ve decided to hold off on keeping it going weekly for now due to Florida’s rainy season. We will be back labor day weekend with Special guest Rich Medina at substance gallery. Be sure to stay up at www.thelazyafternoon.com Got some Tampa gigs booked later this month, always fun playing in the New Jersey of Florida. Other night’s are just a Stone’s Throw away…don’t sleep! I’m definitely planning on being the old man in the club.

Switching gears….

11. You’ve been proclaimed the “Sandwich King of Orlando”, where does a King get a sandwich in this town?
Mills Market get’s my co-sign. I try to stear clear of chain restaurants when possible but I ride for Jimmy John’s due to them being open late and the bread being sweet, think they put crack in it.

12. East Coast or West Coast?
If I got to choose a coast I got to choose to the East, I live out there so don’t go there but that doesn’t mean I can’t rest in the West see some nice breast in the West, smoke some nice sess in the West. Ya’ll dudes is a mess, thinking I’m gonna stop giving Portland Oregon props.

13. Do you think Odd Future has the potential to be the next Wu-Tang Clan?
All I know is, I really hope that kid Earl comes back tho, he’s definitely the nicest out of the crew and on that note, please click this link and listen to this…

The RZA is a prophet.

14. Phillies or Dutchies?
Vaporizer. (Oh you fancy, huh?)

15. High or Low Tops?
Open toe chancletas

16. Skinny Jeans or Baggy?
Shorts!

17. You use a ton of old school soul/funk records in your set, what would you say your favorite ones are?
I’ve been collecting records for years now, it’s my favorite pass time. I love the classics from James Brown (of course), he’s the god father. Lee Fields and the Expressions released a this LP “My World” which is hands down my favorite modern Soul record. These days I’m getting deeper in the crates and it take’s a lot more to perk up my ears. I was very happy to find an O.G. VINYL pressing of Demon Fuzz’s Afreka. It’s hard to label the sound but incorporates elements of Psychedelic soul, dub heavy funk, Afro-Jazz, and acid rock, next level far out musical schitt.

18. If you could share the stage with any act, who would it be and why?
I’d sing back up vocals for George Clinton.

19. If you could change one thing about Orlando, what would it be?
The Humidity.

20. Any last words?
Don’t be a hater! Hit me on twitter @djynot

Why? Its so much fun. Big ups to DJ Y-Not? for taking part in 20 Questions. If you have never heard him live do yourself a favor and get to Cleos on a Wednesday, and bring note pads. Next weeks 20 Questions features the Red Bull Threestyle Orlando Champion, DJ Rincon.

Video blog Wrap-up (Pink flamingo’s inside)

Posted by Brian 'Docta' Dawe On June - 24 - 2011 1 COMMENT

DJ dLux is going to kill me for making my first blog back to the site in months so meaningless. If I wasn’t writing this at 7am after a crazy night out it would probably make more sense and be much more entertaining, but with the sunlight creeping through my window this is the best I can do .

We had a great night out at Fubar tonight. Place was packed as it usually is on my Thursday night. The Last Night’s Hype crew and I made a little video wrap-up of the evening I would like to share. If you haven’t figured out yet it is just a matter of days, maybe hours, before the Orange County Concepts that you all know and love becomes “LastNightsHype.com”. I covered this a little bit in my last photo upload blog, basically We have been looking for a new name for quite some time now, and have gone through more short lived changes than a middle schooler hitting puberty. We feel like this name change to the blog reflects our website concept, and future outlook much better. So on that note, enjoy this video, and what will probably be the last blog post on OCC as you know it.

OH WAIT!!

There is a pool party today that should be pretty awesome! We will be there taking pictures and throwing Mr. Last Night’s Hype around in the pool. He needs a bath pretty bad after tonight. He looks dirtier than a sorority girls flip-flop wearing feet.

Music by DJ Brian ‘Docta’ Dawe (me) and DJ Jonny Quest, and maybe DJ dLux if he wants to show up (which would be pretty sweet.) Official LNH launch pool party coming soon, but this will have to do until then. Check the facebook invite here.

Fake-Ass Badge and a Gun in Your Hand

Posted by The Donk On June - 8 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Okay, listen up. Even though I had planned on making this blog a fun, light and entertaining page to visit during your day, sometimes I may feel the urge to speak out on some real shit that’s going on. This just so happens to be one of those times. Lately, especially over the past month, there is an epidemic threatening this country that is not only putting citizens’ lives at risk, but it is risking the integrity of basic foundations that the United States of America was built upon. I’m talking about the countless, recent atrocities that have been committed by law enforcement officials all over this country, all the way from Seattle to the nation’s capital city, Washington D.C.

Now, right up front, I have to say that I fully respect, and greatly appreciate, the job that good cops do for us citizens every single day. Without police officers properly upholding the law, things would be in a complete and utter state of anarchy. I get this. Honest officers with good intentions are true, unsung heroes. Unfortunately, the problem lies with these punk-ass, corrupt, arrogant, lying, pigs on a power trip. Nowadays, in the year of 2011, practically every person you see is armed with a high-definition video camera, which is ready to film your fuck-up with a furious flick of the finger. Because of this, many of the things that we, as citizens, never would have got to see in the past, are beginning to come to light on a practically constant basis. Thanks to services like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, and of course the innovations to our badass mobile phones, these previously invisible malpractices are now visible wildfires that spread across the blogosphere and social-networking media outlets quicker than you can say “tweet”.

What I would like to do is bring some attention to recent events that have taken place, just in case people aren’t aware of them. It is important that we do not let the media and the government sweep these incidents under the rug and pretend they never happened. We have to use the internet as the powerful tool for which it is and get the word out that peoples’ rights are being infringed upon. With that said, as important as fighting for your rights is, it is significantly more important (and useful) to be knowledgeable about the rights that you do have and how to exercise them properly. If nothing else, my main goal of writing this is to inspire people to follow that advice and to educate themselves. Now let’s get into it…

To start things off, I would like to take you back to a cold December day in Seattle, WA, at the end of last year. A woodcarver by the name of John T. Williams is walking down the street minding his own business. As a woodcarver, he is carrying the tool that makes him a living. It’s a small, legal, closed, whittling knife. Another interesting fact about John, he is nearly deaf in one ear. Well, when Seattle police officer Ian Burke pulls up to the scene, he decides that the small, legal knife is a potentially life-ending threat. Burke jumps out of his car as he yells at Williams to drop the knife. Funny thing is, the ear that was closest to the officer’s direction is also the one that doesn’t work. Needless to say, within these first 4 seconds of contact, the innocent man never even has a chance to drop his so-called “weapon”. After 4.6 seconds of exiting his vehicle, the officer somehow decides that he has no other choice but to unload five lethal rounds into the man’s back from behind.

Just recently, the city of Seattle decided that John T. Williams posed “no threat of serious harm” to the officers involved on that day. In light of this fact, his family received a $1.5 million bribe settlement. Officer Ian Burke resigned from his position, but oddly enough, never faced any charges whatsoever. But wait a second, didn’t they just admit that he… Oh, it… doesn’t matter? Oh, okay.

To keep this as short as possible, and to prove a point, we’re now going to jump straight to March 21, 2011. This was just a couple months ago. Keep in mind that for the rest of this article, I will not reference an event that happened prior to this date. In fact, every video after this one is from an event that happened in the past 3 weeks. Hopefully this will give you an idea of just how frequently these stories are beginning to surface.

This next video comes from Baltimore and was filmed by YouTuber maxlightrail. This pointless, disrespectful interrogation was documented by the photographer as he was simply trying to take a couple photos of the light rail trains at the Cultural Center station. He is rudely antagonized by a group of MTA Police that obviously have absolutely nothing better to do with their time. I’d like to place emphasis on this video, mainly because the victim does an excellent job demonstrating the proper way for a citizen to exercise their rights. Even though the cops try to lie to him and tell him that it is illegal to film them, he politely informs them that he is well aware of his rights, and that they are, in fact, mistaken. The subject is not assaulted or even arrested, but this just illustrates the problem with officers that become drunk with power and feel that they have the right to harass random, law-abiding citizens without just cause. It always surprises me when people of my age group aren’t aware of the powerful rights they posses when dealing with police officers. As a young, intelligent generation, we must know how to protect ourselves in “legal situations” in order to bring these images into the public eye and raise awareness. Take it away Christopher…

As a citizen of Orlando, I have to touch on this next story briefly. This is yet another instance of a person being persecuted for legally filming a publicly occurring sequence of events. This time, the victim was actually on a mission to do exactly that. His name is John Kurtz, and he works for a great website called OrlandoCopWatch. The website lists their goals as the following:

Orlando Copwatch Goals

1) Reduce police violence by directly observing the police on the street, documenting incidents and keeping police accountable. We maintain principles of non-violence while asserting the rights of the detained person. We provide support to victims whenever possible. We also seek to educate the public about their rights, police conduct in the community and issues related to the role of police in our society.
2) Empower and unite the community to resist police abuse.
3) Encourage people to solve problems WITHOUT police intervention. We want to explore alternatives to calling the police.
4) Most importantly, we encourage people to exercise their right to observe the police and to advocate for one another.

Long story short, Kurtz began filming the police in Downtown Orlando as they took down suspects violently, subdued them with tasers, and pepper sprayed them after already being in handcuffs. After being ordered to turn his camera off, Kurtz refused and then was also violently taken down and arrested. He spent 7 days in jail before ever being released and is now facing up to six years in prison for a list of false, absurd charges which include resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement officer. The guerilla reporter has made it known that this is the same officer that can be seen on YouTube illegally seizing a camera, followed by unlawfully arresting a Channel 9 News reporter that spotted him driving erratically and unsafely. See the video below.

Now we have to swing by Washington D.C. for a minute. These guys are really on some other shit. D.C. cops are getting more YouTube views than Rebecca Black with the way they’ve been behaving as of late. The first video starring this lovely department is aptly named “D.C. Police abuse homeless man in a wheelchair”. That preeetty much sums it up. The cops first tell him to get on the ground, which I don’t imagine is an easy thing for a disabled senior-citizen to do. After about 3 seconds of failing to do so, the cops brutally lift the man out of his wheelchair and slam him to the ground face-first. These dudes are straight up wrecking grandpas… in broad daylight… in the streets… with no consequences? What the hell is going on here?

Staying in D.C. for now, we have another nauseating clip that really shows off what these fine officers are up to. A flash-mob was arranged and planned to dance at Thomas Jefferson Memorial on May 28, 2011. The entire scene is captured in this next video. Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a publicly-funded monument, and these innocent men and women are arrested and handled with violence for nothing more than… dancing? Really?! Yes, really. After warned not to dance (for some bizarre reason), the group chooses to ignore the warning, and then, individuals are taken to the ground one by one to be arrested. Is there even a definitive line between standing and dancing? Since when can you be arrested without breaking a goddamn law?

Bonus: The results of taking a stand

I hope that you’re still with me. This is the last, but certainly not the least, story that I’m going to comment on. Yesterday, a fresh new police-brutality video hit YouTube. In my opinion, this one is by far the most chilling. It’s camera-phone footage that surfaced of the Miami Police fatally shooting a man last week. This video begins after the police appear to have already shot the original subject of the scene. After a moment, nearly a dozen cops unload their weapons into the car, killing 22 year old Raymond Herisse. Even though it appears that the officers went a little overboard with the force, the suspect was found to have a gun in his car, so I will reserve my comments for now.

This is when the real story begins. Narces Benoit was the man filming as the events unfolded. Soon after the suspect was shot, Benoit is spotted using the camera by an officer. After Benoit and his girlfriend get in their vehicle, they are bum-rushed by the angry officers, all of which had their weapons drawn. It was reported that everyone in the vehicle had their phones seized at gunpoint. The goons then preceded to stomp on the phones, smashing them into pieces. Luckily, before Benoit’s phone was destroyed, he slipped the memory card into his mouth. If it wasn’t for his quick thinking, he would most likely never have been able to prove his story.

Without further adieu, straight from under Narces’ tongue for your viewing pleasure…

If you are still reading at this point, it probably means that you are as concerned about this as I am. It’s painfully obvious that too many officers are not performing their jobs in a legal manner, nor are they conducting themselves with a sense of honor, respect or… hell, even logic apparently. I’ve been stressing this throughout the article, but the simplest way for any average joe to be active in this fight is to simply keep your eyes open. Be aware of your surroundings and if something out of the ordinary is occurring, don’t be afraid to document it while staying within your legal rights. The more people that see what some of these cops are up to, the better chance we have of things changing. People are always more likely to act right if they feel as if they are being watched. Let’s make them know that it is 2011 and they ARE being watched now. And always remember, just because someone is wearing a badge, it does not mean that it excuses them from treating you the way that any citizen of this country deserves to be treated. Educate yourself!

A-Trak got that Ray Ban vision YO!

FRESHHHHH SQUEEEEEZE!

*stretch,yawn,crack knuckles, & takes a seat*

Good Morning Orlando, it’s been a busy week for me, but priorities come first(and this is next on the list).

A-Trak doesn’t always mix hip hop, but when he does it is always fresh and exciting.  As busy as he has been producing beat’s for Lupe, Kid Sister, Kanye, Armin Van Helden & keeping up with his live performances I was happy to stumble upon yet another accessories related track. Featured here w/A-trak is G.O.O.D. Music’s latest recruit CyHi Da Prynce. I have never heard ANYTHING from CyHi before so I was extremely satisfied with the way this turned out for Alain, kudos.  If you didn’t catch what I was referring to about the accessories related tracks, “Mastered – A-trak (feat. Lupe Fiasco)” was alternatively named “Me & My Sneakers”.  Hope none of you are left in confusion after reading this ;) .

Me & My Sneakers (Feat. Lupe Fiasco) by Magnetic Beats

A-Trak – Ray Ban Vision [ft. CyHi Da Prince] by Insoportable Magazine

Here’s some youtubage of Mr.CyHi showing his skills in a Popular Demand Free styling video. Not bad at all…

My friend threw this track at me probably a week ago and it grew on me rapidly. I enjoy the majority of Diplo’s remixes, but it’s pretty rare I enjoy those mixes when they are re-remixed. The Killabits have done an excellent job reworking “Never Good Enough – Major Lazer” and added the very pleasant wobble and bass feel that Switch and Diplo try not use very often (from what I have heard), but I feel this time it was necessary. I leave you now with a few more Wes related tracks to enjoy.

Wobble Wednesday | 10.6.10

Posted by Familiar Joe On October - 6 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

You know what that mean’s, time to donate some dub to the needy folks out there.

Guess who has a new EP coming to you October 19th?

When I woke up this morning I was VERY excited to see the update to Bassnectar’s homepage on his website (bassnectar.net). “Wildstyle” will be released on the 19th of  this month like I said, so don’t let time slip by and forget that there is some super dirty goodness ready to download and enjoy. From what I heard in the Sample nectar left for us to dissect, this is exactly the direction I was hoping he would go with his music (Staying original as fuck while increasing the wobble).

What do you think of this new track? I am inclined to wonder what your opinions are Floridians!

Fresh Squeeze | 10.4.10

Were back with lots more fresh, un-squeezed beats for you to lose yourself in :)

Alright, time to break out the juicer and serve you our freshest Squeeze yet.

Weezy has brought us “Im not a human being” which has already topped the Itunes charts as soon as it was exposed to the people of the internet. From what I have gathered, a good amount of the tracks on this EP were mean’t to be released the day Lil Wayne is released from Prison in November on the Carter IV. Apparently IV was so strong and solid, fresh material that Lil Wayne decided to give his fans a taste of what we have been waiting for, and of course get our hopes up for IV’s release. Personally I just hope he strays away from his new “Rock/Pop” sound and sticks to what we all know he does best. I have more stuff to show you so ill leave you with one track that caught my ears, the rest is out there for your discovering pleasure.

‘ Im not a human being’ features Gudda Gudda, Lil Chuckee and T-Streets. Members of the Young Money family Drake, Jay Sean, Lil Twist, Nicki Minaj, Jae Millz, & Tyga.

Fresh"est" Pick.

KID KAIO released this track a few weeks back, but I have only recently started seeing rumors of this young Netherlands producer around some of my favorite blogs. I can only assume after all the positive feedback he has been given from his listeners the talk of him collaborating with Mad Decent is true(Diplo specifically…? I can dig it). You will like this if you enjoy hard repetitive synth’s and feel like hearing something that will get your blood pumped up and bouncing around like you just took out a whole 16 oz jar of chocolate covered espresso beans. Seriously some of the most entertaining, bouncy, but not so wobbly drops. You can listen to it as you please though. Keep an eye on this guy if you enjoy this noise, I can see this guy getting some tracks featured in the future after I dug through his Soundcloud.

KID KAIO FT BUIZA – BROADWAY by Kid Kaio

After mentioning Mad Decent & Diplo, I wanted to make sure you had a chance to checkout the re-cap of the 2010 Mad Decent Block Parties across the USA. This video was edited AWESOME and is very easy on the senses. Take 6 minutes out of your busy day and see what could of been, if Orlando even had something close to this big of a following for this label(VIBIN). Not to worry, the end of 2010 has many surprises approaching quickly (to say the very least).

Rapper Sam Adams Brews Up Hits

Posted by E-Rock On September - 18 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

The “new” formula seems on point:

White kid?  Check.

From somewhere other than L.A. or New York?  Check.

Early 20s?  Check.

In college?  Check.

Outsell top hip-hop artists like Lil’ Wayne and DJ Khaled?  …Umm.  Check.

Makin’ almost as much noise as March 17th, Boston‘s own Samuel Adams Wisner – known as Wiz or Sam Adams – has been representing Beantown HARD.   The 22-year-old has been pushing his own brand of hip-hop meets electric meets whateverthehell he wants…and he is getting noticed.  Big time.

The Trinity College senior – and soccer team captain – not only puts up a 3.0 GPA but is putting up impressive sales online and in the streets right now.  Throughout this summer he has held spots within the top 100 Billboard Singles and in the top 20 Heatseekers Songs.  He sold 5,000 copies of his single “Tab Open” with zero promotions and zero marketing – a month before his Boston’s Boy EP was released.  That’s some serious noise.

Boston’s Boy is a mix of numerous flavors, and contrasting the slow, haunting piano melodies on “Just Love Here” against the uptempo synth-and-drum heavy “Coast 2 Coast” – reminiscent of Shwayze – definitely put this brew at the top of the line.  Boston’s Boy features production credits from Oren Yoel (from Asher Roth fame), DJ Muggs (Cypress Hill), Grammy Award-winning producer Maestro, and prolific hip-hop producer, Nottz.  Nottz’ track, “Fly Jets over Boston” features 2009 XXL Top-10 Freshman Curren$y.

I hate college, but love all the parties / finishing kegs and crushing bottles of Bacardi

King of the Class, I’d rather lay up with a hottie / single doesn’t mean I’m lookin for somebody…

- “I Hate College”

He got his first taste of success with his “I Hate College Remix”, which quickly catapulted him to hordes of Facebook fans and Twitter followers.  Those that have kept up with him have been treated so some of best new sounds in hip-hop; and now he’s back with more.  His upcoming release, Party Records (co-hosted by DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Cash), has already garnered severe attention, and such, he’s dropped the first single, “Hold On,” produced by none other than Rusko.

Be on the lookout for some serious sounds from Sam Adams, and keep it locked on OrangeCountyConcepts.com; always bringing you the freshest juice for your headphones.

Designer Drugs

Our friends at Phantom Status & Smile for Camera are bringing some fresh noise to East Orlando this 22nd of September(a few of us at OCC have been extremely excited about this event, mind you). Designer Drugs (Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson) local’s of the very hip East Village in New York City are packing up their gear, and making their way down to the brand new Blue Moon 504 Ultra Lounge . In my opinion this will be a REAL test on Blue Moon’s top of the line audio equipment, I am growing impatient for this event since I found out about this booking.

RFRSH.YOR.PLYLST | Fresh Squeeze

Posted by Familiar Joe On August - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

This is the very first installment of Fresh Squeeze, a bi-weekly music blog bringing you bangers from all sides of the EDM lifestyle. If you  are catching my drift, I don’t like to keep it all about one specific genre. The general idea behind Fresh Squeeze is simple, I want to share my favorite music with you. The music I take the time every day to dig up from the depths of the internet (to your speakers). Attempting to keep this short and to the point, here are a few tracks for you to munch on.

Joe Nice AkA Mr. Niceguy

Mr.Nice guy..

Whether you like it or not, Joe has a large role in bringing the dubstep scene to critical mass across our nation (see what I did there?).  31 years young coming out of Baltimore, Joe Nice may have been around a lot longer than you thought. His very first time hearing dubstep was in 2002, that same year he decided to produce some dub himself. The rest is history, and somewhere in the future (check out his soundcloud, he’s been hard at work) What stands out about this guy is his willingness to work with songs by producers who are really not that well known, and convincing you that it very well should be playing in the clubs on the regular. (especially in EDM & Dub).

Tightrope (Mr.NiceGuy Remix) by Mr. NiceGuy

If you like diplo’s remix of “Hip hop”, you will want to make love to this track mix. Because of this track, I will keep a watchful eye on WTF!?

WTF!? and Dead Prez – “It’s Bigger Than Hip Hop UK” by Some Kind of Awesome

My old buddy Brent over at Full Sail turned me on to this track this evening over a very random phone call only telling me to listen to these last 2 mixes. Very exclusive stuff especially if you are a fan of Wolfgang Gartner or Deadmau5. I can only assume this 2nd production is unfinished, hence the “untitled” title.

Kill The Noise- My World (Charles I Remix) by Charles I

Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner – Untitled by vClubMusic

I could sit here all night and turn this post in to an encyclopedia of dank ass dub, but what would be the fun in that? If you have any music you think I might enjoy enough to actually feature it in Fresh Squeeze, you can try to enlighten me..

Alright, I changed my mind. You will be hearing more of this around in the future mark my words. I like to think of it as Rapstep.  Let me introduce you to King Fantastic.
