“Last party we had, they shut down Privé…

Posted by dLux On August - 17 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

…Ain’t that where the Heat play? Niggas hate ballas these days / Ain’t that like Lebron James? Ain’t that just like D. Wade?”

In case you have been living under a rock for the past week, Kanye West & Jay-Z released their highly anticipated joint-album, Watch The Throne, last Tuesday. This was one of the first hip-hop albums in a loooong time to not suffer a leak and thats because these Titans of the industry decided to release it digitally and not physically (at least at first), therefore never letting it get in the hands of any third-party to where it could spring a leak. Clever girl.

After having a week to listen and take the album in, it is safe to say that this is a very strong release. You can really tell the difference between artists that are in the same studio doing tracks together as opposed to just emailing verses back-and-forth *cough* DJ Khaled *cough*. Not a single part of this album was done without both Kanye and Jay together.

Stand-out absolute bangers include: Niggas In Paris, Gotta Have It, Who Gon’ Stop Me. The first one and the last one I mentioned feature that train that everyone and I mean EVERYONE is jumping on, so much that the shit could be close to derailing: dubstep. Who Gon’ Stop Me actually samples one of the heavyweights of the genre, Flux Pavilion. Leave it to Kanye & Jay to use dubstep in a should I say, classy way. Not too much, but just enough to where its not monotonous.

With production from RZA, The Neptunes, Kanye West himself, his latest protegé Hit-Boy, NO ID, Swizz Beatz, Lex Luger & Pete Rock, the beats do not disappoint. Obviously very sample heavy but still a very fresh sound to an extremely stale rap scene.

So should you buy it, download it, steal it? Do whatever you feel is right but one things for sure: listen to it front to back.

“So I ball so hard muhfuckas wanna fine me / But first niggas gotta find me / What’s 50 grand to a muhfucka like me / Can you please remind me? / This shit crazy / Ya’ll don’t know that don’t shit phase me / The Nets could go 0-82 and I look at you like this sh*t gravy”

That shit crae.

Fuck The Man . . . On The Run

Posted by Zack Farrow On August - 17 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Lets say you just clocked in to work. You’re sayin fuck the man and check your twitter or facebook on your iPhone and see that Docta Dawe or DJ dLux just released another mix and it is in torrent form.  Now I know you wanna bang that bitch on the way home but how are you going to download it while your working right. Your phone isn’t set up to remote desktop to your home computer to set up the download so it will be there when you get home so you are pissed. Well ease your worries friend s cause I have a way for you to download torrents on your iPhone or Android with no problems . I have included pictures to go with the corresponding numbers below for help.

First, go to the appstore on the iPhone and download an app called Filer. You can download filer lite if you don’t want to pay but you can only manage 3 downloads at a time, most people wont have an issue with this but hey throw some money to the develpoer who made the app they probably have to pay rent too. On Android go into the Market place and search for Download All Files, it should have a blue icon with a downward arrow. Get these apps installed.

Next, point your browser to www.torrific.com . In the top right corner you are going to click sign up. When you enter your email remember exactly how it is typed as it is very case sensitive when you go to log in at a later date. Make sure this is an email address you can access on your phone as they are going to send you a verification email.

Next we are going to go to where ever this torrent is located on the web. This will work for all torrent hosting websites so pick your poison. Find your torrent and when you see the download torrent link, press and hold until you see copy(1).

Make sure the link you copy ends in .torrent. Go in another tab/window of your browser back to torrific.com and log in if you need. Then at the top input field paste your torrent in there. This is a good point to check that .torrent file ending. Now click get(2).

On the next page about midway down to the right you are going to see a button that says “initiate bittorrent download” click this(3).

Now, from here you are going to have 1 of 2 screens load. If you’re torrent has already been uploaded to their server you are going to have access to download all files within that torrent immediately to the right(4)

Or you are going to get a screen that will tell you that you have to wait for your download. Check the box to alert you when you are done. They will send you an email  when you can download.Click the link in the email and you will get the first screen.(5)

Once you have the first screen click and hold the file you want to download and select copy to that file, if you have a lot of files like a mixtape download a nice thing this website does is allows you to download them all as a zip file. Not really useful on the iPhone as you cant open it but nice for when you get home.

Once you have selected the file you want to download and copied the link they give you if you are on an iPhone go to filer. If you are on Android I believe when you click and hold you have the option to download right there. For the iPhone when you go to Filer click get link to the far left and your link should already be in the input field and click download.  Now sit back and wait for your file to download.

I only know how to get the files off your iPhone and on to your computer since I don’t own an android but feel free to contact me with a solution for Android. Plug your iPhone into your computer when you get home and click on the apps category under your iPhone. Then scroll down to file sharing and click Filer. Then click the file you want to transfer and click save to and it will transfer the file to your computer pretty quickly.

As a disclaimer, I know some of you are going to say hey I can go download some movie torrents now and watch them at work. Yes you can, however if you seem to initiate enough movies that this website gets a DCMA take down for you will have your account deleted. I have had this happen to me all I did was turn around and make a new account with a different email address. One other thing, if you aren’t on an unlimited data plan try to not be downloading unless you are connected to WiFi. Torrents can get to some pretty hefty sizes and with data fees being at a ridiculous rate it would suck to have to pay for something you could have just waited to get home to download.

20 Questions w/ DJ Trendkiller

Posted by dLux On August - 15 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

“Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, bring it back….” Yes, yes we are back again with another round of Orlandos favorite new column featuring everyone that doesn’t suck, 20 Questions!

This week we are featuring who I thought was the long-hair-don’t-care DJ Trendkiller but as you’ll read on I was sadly mistaken. I remember hearing about this kid about 2-3 years ago when Docta Dawe and I were just having one of our usual video chat dates. He said there was this one kid at TDs that was actually good and clearly did not belong. Those were my thoughts too, fuck those kids at TDs, they don’t deserve to hear Disco Villians remixes, they should Walk It Out till their ears fall off.

Needless to say Trendkiller got out of there and never looked back. He not only DJs by himself, but pairs up with a drummer and becomes The Royal Kids. He hates requests, hates shitty DJs, hates grimey bar owners, and isn’t afraid to go against the grain and infect people with ear knowledge no matter where it is, and thats exactly why we wanted him for 20 Questions.

1. Weapons of choice? (Equipment, mixer, software)
Technic 1200s, Pioneer DJM 909, Macbook + Serato

2. Favorite genre to spin?
Genres tend to go out the window when I spin. I just love playing bass-heavy neck-breaking tunes that get the crowd bouncing.

3. Favorite producer?
Feed Me has been on a tear lately. I just saw him live out in California and his tracks never cease to amaze me.

4. What are you listening to in your car?
A lot of Siriusmo and a whole mess of Radio One Essential mixes.

5. Banger of Summer 2011?
People seem to be in love with LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem. I’m not a huge fan of it, but it always seems to take the party to another level.

6. Most slept on song of 2011?
Orlando’s own Killagraham (http://soundcloud.com/killagraham) made a proper remix of Drake’s ‘I’m On One’ that deserves a lot more recognition.

7. Who influenced you early in your career?
A-Trak, Craze, Klever, and DJ AM were all definitely big influences early on.

8. Song you hate getting requests for?
I hate 99% of requests. The only time I don’t hate a request is when the person asking you to play a song takes the genre and/or BPM into consideration.

9. Where was your first weekly?
Monday Nights at Knight Library. Things have changed a lot since then.

10. Where can we find you now?
Monday Night: Dungeon Lounge (Dubstep/Drumstep/Electro)
Tuesday Night: Downtown Pourhouse (Open Format)
Thursday Night: The Attic (House/Electro/Dance)

SWITCH!

11. Tell us about your side project, The Royal Kids
Well, it started as a side project and has since developed into my main focus. My Friday night venue was looking to liven up the music a little, so I suggested bringing my good friend Steve Addington to come play drums with me. We practiced for maybe 20 minutes before the show and started flowing really well and things just took off from there. Essentially we’re a DJ/Drummer combo with a very diverse range of music.

12. Where can we catch you guys out?
We play Riot Wednesdays and Saturday nights at Knight Library, and at Downtown Pourhouse on Friday Nights.

13. What shows coming to the Orlando area are you most looking forward to?
I’m glad Orlando finally started bringing in some bigger EDM artists. Im looking forward to seeing Chromeo as well as Skrillex/12th Planet/Foreign Beggars.

14. Why are there so many bad DJs with gigs around this town?
Because these grimey bar/club owners don’t give a shit what’s coming through the speakers as long as they’re making money at the door and selling alcohol.

15. Are you ever going to cut your hair?
I actually shaved my head about 2 weeks ago and I didn’t miss it until I just read this question! RIP (11/2009 – 07/2011)

You can get with this, or you can get with that…

16. UCF or Downtown gigs?
100% downtown

17. 128 BPM with dubstep wobbles or 140 BPM true dubstep?
I really like 128 BPM with half-time breakdowns, but 140 is king.

18. Phillies or Dutchies?
< White Grape Games

19. King of Dubstep: Skrillex or Rusko?
I saw them both live and I honestly have to say DATSIK impressed me way more than Skrillex or Rusko.

20. Any final words?
Just a massive thanks to everyone that enjoys and supports what I do!

Be sure to Like DJ Trendkiller on Facebook and make it a point to go check him out. I agree with him about Party Rock Anthem, anybody who thinks that song is the greatest thing ever clearly has never heard LMFAOs best song, hands down, “I Am Not A Whore”. Way to one-up me on the Game blunts, MAN. I think I’m just gonna start asking what peoples go-to choice for rolling up weed tobacco is instead of giving choices.

Once again big thanks to DJ Trendkiller for being apart of 20 Questions, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled like an uncircumcised penis for next week with deadmau5….wait, I meant DJ T-Gibbs.

Top 20 LNH/OCC photos & nights EVER.

Posted by Brian 'Docta' Dawe On August - 7 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Call me nostalgic, but to commemorate the launch of Last Nights Hype, and the transformation of Orange County Concepts, I thought it would be an appropriate to recap the last four years of memories we have shared together. In the last four years we have published 685 blog posts (this makes 686) and this week we expect to top 17,000 event photos.

One thing we have always prided ourself on is our photography. We have had some of the greatest photographers in Orlando on staff over the past few years including (but not limited to) J. Chris Callahan, Erik Spradling, Jon Longstaff, and our current main photographer Allycrunk. We always made it a priority to provide quality edited photos, not some point and click bullshit like most of the other promotional companies are uploading. We have also always made it super simple to access photos that we took at an event, click and download, no annoying membership logins, shiiiit, you can even download them straight from our Facebook page.

As we turn the page from Orange County Concepts to Last Night’s Hype, I thought it would be fun to post what I thought are the very best photos our website has EVER published. With an archive of photos as large as ours is, (173 event galleries) this list has taken a few days to compile. I think it shows an accurate depiction of just how fucking awesome our parties were, and still are. It also serves as a history lesson on Orlando nightlife, and the trends that we started way back before some of you even had your drivers license.

#20 THE CRUNK CASTLE (CrunkRAWK House Party) 6/8/07
Photo by: TJ The Photographer (See the full gallery here)

So this might be a little embarrassing. As you may have heard, our house parties were pretty awesome. It was even mentioned in last months issue of Drink Magazine. We had a little house we called “The Crunk Castle” in East Orlando. It was not uncommon for 400 or more people to show up any given weekend and wreck the place. We always had a DJ, and often had a photographer. Keep in mind this was a HOUSE in a normal middle class neighborhood. The neighbors hated us, the cops showed up 14 times in one year, and lucky for us our out of state landlord didn’t evicted us nearly fast enough. Gunshots, stolen cars, window bashings. You name it, we saw it. The girl digging for gold in the bottom left of this photo amidst all the madness is priceless.

#19 SCOOP DE MAYO 5/3/08
Photo by: J. Chris Callahan (See the full gallery here)

The caption was added to this photo before it was politically incorrect to use “homo” or “gay” as an insult. Thanks to the NBA’s “Think B4 you speak” campaign we now know better! We also love the gay community, case in point our party at Mr. Sisters every Sunday. Seriously though, this party SUCKED. It was a block party thrown by Whats2Hot that took up the entire Scoop’s parking lot with a huge stage, and an entires day worth of entertainment. The event promised to bring well over a thousand party people. Only problem is the promoter forgot to, um, bring anybody. Now that is Not2Hot, but good for a nice laugh

#18 SOME ASSHOLE PASSES OUT IN BUSHES AT SHIT SHOW @ POUNDERS 6/21/08
Photo by: J. Chris Callahan (See the full gallery here)

No explanation needed here.

My favorite part was when they put the leaves over his head.

#17 ERIK DRAVEN’S SUPER BOWL HOUSE PARTY 2/1/09
Photo by: Colombia (See the full gallery here)

When you show your manhood to a group of ladies at a house party, a laugh is the last response you want to get. Unfortunately for our buddy King Kong this was the norm. Nice dick!

#16 LEGIT. @ DUNGEON 4/30/10
Photo by: Familiar Joe (See the full gallery here)

“You mean there was another electronic music party at Dungeon before riot?” Yes. We threw it. Unfortunately we had a shitty sound system, no lights, no CO2 canisters, and no dubstep (as in no one knew what the fuck it was yet). We also unfortunately decided to launch the party at the beginning of summer, so it was very short lived. It was long enough to raise a few eyebrows though, and next thing you know “Riot!” was born. You’re welcome, again.

#15 BARACK OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN RALLY @ AMWAY ARENA 10/20/08
Photo by: Colombia (See the full gallery here)

Yes, we even got political with it. We covered the Barack Obama rally in 2008 outside the north entrance of the soon to be demolished Amway Arena due to its historical significance. 50,000 people showed up to see the soon to be president address the city of Orlando. It was only 15 days before Obama would become the president of the United States. You can thank us for bringing him to Orlando first… (ok, you got us,  we had nothing to do with him coming.)

#14 REHAB @ POUNDERS 1/20/08
Photo by: Kapow (See the full gallery here)

So what is so special here? Another typical nightlife picture of two girls making out. Well this night was special. We PACKED this now defunct club on the east side of Orlando called Pounders on a Sunday night for a special event we did called Rehab. There was no school the next day, and we capitalized to the fullest with ice luge’s, free champagne, and bumpin’ indie electro house (before it was cool). The best part was we were able to steal Kapow for this party, who was easily the best and most popular photographer in Orlando. She shot exclusively for Pauly Crush at the time so we were very excited to have her. She made a regular UCF party look like a masterpiece. This entire album shows just how amazing her work was. In my opinion she is hands down the best photographer Orlando night life has EVER seen. Check out the full gallery from this party to see her amazingly candid shots.

#13 NIGHT TIME FOAM POOL PARTY @ JEFFERSON VILLAGE 9/5/08
Photo by: Can’t remember (See the full gallery here)

Foam parties are pretty awesome. I remember back in my Firestone days the owner said he would never do a foam party again because he would find all kinds of disgusting shit when they would clean out the foam pit. Condoms, underware, you name it, they saw it. So when you combine a pool party, with a foam party, and then do it at night and throw glow sticks out to everyone you know you are asking for some crazy shit to happen.

Kid Disco AKA Full Effect AKA Junior Diaz killed it on the decks that night and made for quite a memorable evening.

#12 BIG FU*CKIN’ HOUSE PARTY @ KINGS HOUSE 11-28-08
Photo by: Colombia (See the full gallery here)

I think this is the best DJ line-up a house party has ever seen in Orlando. With DJs Deville, Justin James, Youngheartz, Erik Draven, and myself, and hosted by the voice of Roxy/”Rage” Saturday’s Eric James. This is another multi-picture entry, because sometimes a few pictures really do tell a story. Blood on the floor, weave in the chandler, and girls pooping… sounds like my kind of shindig!

#11 PUDDING WRESTLING SHIT SHOW @ POUNDERS 9-27-08
Photo by: J. Chris Callahan (See the full gallery here)

It was supposed to be pudding wrestling, but it looked more like the results of the bathroom scene from dumb and dumber. The best part of this picture may actually be the promotions that went into this event, mainly this video.

As you can see this was an easy clean up job.

ok, upon further review this was an unrelated, not nearly as successful pudding wrestling event. Either way it is still fitting.

#10 CLINT HOUSE PARTIES PRE-CASEY ANTHONY TRIAL TESTIMONY
Photo by: Erik Spradling (See the full gallery here)

You have seen this man featured on CNN, Fox News, NBC, CBS, Lifetime, etc! Clint House has a big mouth, and we all love it. Always speaking his opinion before using his brain, he gave us LOTS of entertaining material to blog about.

Clint is busy these days fighting to give Caylee Anthony “the justice that the court system failed to give her.” He has been pushing to get Caylee’s Law on to the senate floor ever since he heard the shocking verdict that stunned the nation a few weeks ago. We have to give Clint credit for coming so far! From his days with “Whats 2 Hot“, to his stint as a Jacksonville promoter, to the Orange County Courthouse Roy Clint has always been an OCC/LNH staple. All jokes aside, we are proud of this man for taking a stand and doing the right thing.

#9 DJ dLUX SAYS “FUCK IT” AND ******** AT THE FINAL SHIT SHOW @ POUNDERS 10-5-08
Photo by: Colombia (See the full gallery here)

And like that it was all over. Pounders began to decline, so they remodeled and named the place “Octagon”. Terrible name, terrible idea. The only thing still happening in that building was our party Shit Show. The place would re-open after another remodel about a month later, but it was never the same. The vibe from Shit Show had officially taken a… shit. We came back with another party called Snatch, but by then our fun was over.

DJ dLux decided he was going out in a blaze of glory, literally. When the smoke cleared, the Shit Show was over.

#8 PENIS GRINDING ON ASS @ OCC HOUSE PARTY 10-26-08
Photo by: Colombia (See the full gallery here)

Well shit… we lost Shit Show, so I guess we decided to bring it back to our roots. Time to take it to the house! This young lady seems to have dropped something.

Oh wait, she just has a penis on her ass. Back in the heyday of Defame: Orlando, this photo was blogged with the following close-up image.

Yes I do believe that is what you think it is.

#7 DJ SERAFIN & FRIENDS AT STEREO @ ANTIGUA 1-22-09
Photos by: Joe Perri / Erik Spradling (See the full gallery here)

Special Guest DJ Serafin from Los Angeles made his Orlando debut at Stereo. He proved that asians can look good with blonde hair…

and Justin James proved he is still gay for wearing pink the 3rd time that week.

#6 TRAVIE MCCOY DJ’S AT SATURDAY/THURSDAY @ FIRESTONE
Photo by: J. Chris Callahan (See the full gallery here)

Travie McCoy is a great musician. He was good as a member of Gym Class Heroes, and not too shabby as a solo artist. He may want to be a millionaire, but he couldn’t have DJed properly if it was for a million dollars.

We watched him load up iTunes, and play a pre-recorded mix. It was a fun night though, and Travie managed to get the crowd hype during his “DJ set” at Firestone for the Warp Tour after party.

#5 STEREO BLACK OUT PARTY 5/14/09
Photo by: Erik Spradling (See the full gallery here)

I specifically remember some now well know Orlando house DJs, who were just kids playing in there bedrooms back then, telling me this party inspired them to DJ. I won’t mention any names, but they told me this party motivated them to throw their own parties, and gave them a huge desire to play for a large club audience (which they now have). We threw out 500 glow sticks, decked out Antigua with black lights, and made it cool to have glow sticks in the club again. Having your name painted on topless go-go dancers is pretty awesome, so I will gladly add this photo from that amazing event to the list.

#4 SHIT SHOW @ POUNDERS (ANY WEEK)
Photos by: J. Chris Callahan

The following screen shot of a recent Facebook comment left to me by Louie Diaz (AKA Kid Disco, Full Effect, Junior Diaz) pretty much sums up this party.

This was THE FIRST electro, house, dance party EVER in the UCF area. We were going against the grain, and playing music that these kids had NO CLUE about. Now it’s the norm…. once again you are welcome.

#3 STEVE AOKI (BEFORE HE PLAYED ALL OVER ORLANDO) AT SATURDAY/THURSDAY @ FIRESTONE 5/29/08
Photo by: J. Chris Callahan (See the full gallery here)

Steve Aoki has played in Orlando COUNTLESS times. So many times it is hard to keep track of. We are proud to say we brought him before he was a household name, and WAYYYY before he hit the Turbulence. His first appearance was in front of about 300 people in 2007 at Firestone, this night was before the crazy Steve Aoki that we all know now. He stood up on the stage playing records, and didn’t even move an inch. In his second of about fifty Orlando performances Steve served up quite a show, and brought out his crazy personality for the first time ever in Orlando. He was so wasted at one point he fell off the DJ booth, hitting his head on the stage. He blacked out for about 45 seconds, and then finally came to with a smile on his face. He resumed playing without missing a beat. This was by far one of the most memorable nights in OCC history. Being apart of the first show of its kind way before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon was something really special.

Steve also created this very awkward moment for me.

I think he may have been so drunk that he mistakenly believed he was at Mr. Sisters.

#2 SATURDAY/THURSDAY @ FIRESTONE (ANY WEEK)

S/T was an amazing party. We unfortunately were brought into the party at a very bad time creating all kinds of nightlife drama. Way too many years have passed for it to even matter anymore. I can only hope that people remember how good this party was for Orlando nightlife. Pauly Crush started a revolution, we tried to continue the movement. It felt so good to play the music I loved in front of 800-1000 people every week, and at a time when no one else in the city was doing it. S/T is a legendary party, and I don’t think anyone that experienced it could ever forget it.

#1 MÉSTER HYPÉ AKA Waka Flocka Flamingo @ EVERYWHERE 2011
Photos by: Ally Crunk

Out with the old and in with the new. We will award the #1 slot to Méster Hypé AKA Waka Flocka Flamingo because we believe the best for this website has yet to come, and that silly fucking flamingo somehow became the face of this amazing new crew. Méster Hypé, the official mascot of Last Night’s Hype has been EVERYWHERE lately. Dancing on the bar, crowd surfing, in-between your girlfriends legs, you name it he has done it. He is making a real mark on Orlando nightlife, and you can expect to see him out at the club for a long time to come. LNH is here, and we are not going anywhere for a VERY long time. So get used to our little flamingo, and if you see him out at the club give him a kiss and snap a pic with him. :)

**HONORABLE MENTIONS**

- Bry Bry’s long finger -

- Last Night’s Hype goes gay -

- Guy has sex on dance floor at bar one -

- Chris Callahan climbs an abandoned gas station billboard -

- DJ Khaled performs at Fubar’s “Blocktoberfest” -

- Justin James wears Ed Hardy -

Shout out to dLux, I told you I would get this blog up (34 revisions later). That was a nice walk down memory lane. I was going to say something about how I hope to write another one of these blogs with amazing memories in four years, but honestly by then I will be WAYYYY to old for this shit, and hopefully DJing at mega clubs in Vegas (not to mention this shit took wayyyy to long). If not you can find me back in my race car bed at Mama Dawe’s.

As promised on last weeks “Ally Crunk weekly recap – Vol. One” I went back to Roxy Rage Saturdays again! TGibbs aka Trevor Gibbs from We Are Hysteria killed as usual, he definitely knows how to get the crowd going. The masks, the crowd, the drink specials, the hot girls dancing on poles, the rage, it just completes the entire night. I have to admit this is the place to be on Saturday evenings. If you haven’t been yet, definitely check it out!

20 Questions w/ DJ A-Rock

Posted by dLux On August - 4 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Back like cooked crack (aye!), it’s 20 Questions. This week we are talking to the DJ that has the best shoe selection in Orlando, DJ A-Rock.

A-Rock, like our last participant, DJ Rincon, is not only DJing in Downtown Orlando, but he has taken his show on the road with traveling shows, that being the Dew Tour.

Whether its the beginning of the month at Vain, scaring people at Blue Martini on Mondays with Dubstep (or opening for Lil’ Jon, no big deal), playing a more chill vibe at Ember on Tuesdays, or his creme de la creme gig at Rok Room on the weekends, to say that he keeps himself busy is an understatement. A-Rock is also one of the DJs in Orlando keeping scratch techniques/routines in his set and for that, like Tosh, we thank you.

1. Weapons of choice? (Equipment, mixer, software)
Technic 1200′s, Rane TTM-57, Pioneer 800, Serato.

2. Favorite genre to spin?
All of them! No but seriously, I like all types of music. I try and keep it as diverse as possible. Keeps it fun.

3. Favorite producer?
Toss up between Tensnake and Louis La Roche.

4. What are you listening to in your car?
Carte Blanche – White Man On The Moon

5. Banger of Summer 2011?
Let’s face it, Give Me Everything – Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Nayer & Afrojack is a huge. (Agreed.) Dr. Gonzo Anthem – Crookers is ridiculous.

6. Most slept on song of 2011?
Man, music comes out lightning quick. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but some songs don’t even get a chance. So I’d say two songs that if people don’t know about, should check… ION – D.I.M. and TAI and Eargasm – Black Raw.

7. Who influenced you early in your career?
I got started because I saw an Incubus show back when I was 16, and watching Kid Kilmore manipulate samples into the live band sets was amazing to me. A.M. 100%. Z-Trip. X-Ecutioners. A-Trak. KLEVER. Enferno. Magic Mike. DJ NOVA.

8. Song you hate getting requests for?
“Do you have that birthday song?” “Can you play something I can dance to?”

9. Where was your first weekly?
Red Coconut Club @ Citywalk.

10. Where can we find you now?
In my studio answering these questions. Haha. Ember on Tuesdays & Fridays, 1st Thursdays @ VAiN, Blue Martini Mondays, & Rok Room. Nothing against my residencies, but Rok Room Sundays is by far my favorite party. I get to play WHATEVER I want. It’s a great vibe, and the energy is always on point. I’m also out on the 2011 Dew Tour this summer. I’m also starting to play outside of Orlando a lot more so it’s been nice.

Switch!

You are an avid sneaker freak, so lets find out what kicks make the man…

11. Favorite pair if you had to choose?

MAN, I can only pick one??? Well I can’t so I’ll provide a pic of my top 5…

Dunk Haze: These mean A LOT to me. Last picture most people saw of A.M. he was throwing out the first pitch at a Mets game in New York. I came across these at the Dunk XChange earlier this year, and got a great deal on them.
Jordan III Black Cement: Quite possibly the greatest sneaker of all time
Bottom Row:
Nike Air Trainer III from DJ AM’s Collection
Nike Air Yeezy
Nike Dunk Goldenrod : I have 3 pairs. Such a great, clean, colorway.

12. Go-to pair that you’re rocking right now?
Nike Dunk Low Splatter.

13. Upcoming release you are looking forward to?
SB has been on point with some of their releases this year, from the Liberties to the Space Jams. Jordan has killed it with the Retro III releases and I’ve been lucky enough to cop em all, so I’m looking forward to the Black Cements releasing later this year.

14. Most paid for a single pair and which ones?
I had to cop my Black Cement III’s off EBAY, so I paid a lil bit for em. Luckily I received the Yeezy’s as a gift or else that would have cost some mint.

15. High tops or Low Tops?
Depends on the day, weather, fit, etc.

You can get with this, or you can get with that….

16. iPhone or Android?
iPhone allllll dayyyy. Instagram YUH!

17. Regular or V-Neck?
V-Neck, but I collect Vintage T’s so I have A LOT OF LOVE for the crew neck. LOL

18. Skinny Jeans or Baggy?
Baggy jeans just don’t look right.

19. Fitted or Snapback?
Snapbacks are in right now, but a fitted cap is timeless.

20. Any final words?
Thank You to Last Nights Hype for including me in “20 Questions”. I appreciate it 100%. If anyone wants, stay up with me on twitter @DJ_AROCK or Like http://www.facebook.com/DJAROCK1

No, thank YOU DJ A-Rock for being another great addition to 20 Questions, our weekly feature on DJs, photographers, and anyone else is Orlando making their own lane for themselves. Be sure to check out all our past entries in 20 Questions with Kid Judah, DJ Y-Not?, and DJ Rincon.

Join us next week as we feature the long-hair-don’t-care, DJ Trendkiller.
