Still Can’t Stop The Reign

Shaq is the fucking man, period. From the moment he was drafted to Orlando, you knew this 7-foot monster brought something to the NBA that had never been seen before. From breaking backboards, releasing rap albums (one featuring The Notorious B.I.G.), starring in classic films such as Blue Chips & Kazaam, accompanying Hulk Hogan to the ring for his debut match in WCW against Ric Flair (I was there, no big deal), winning 4 championship rings, to later in his career basically hand picking which team he wanted to play for, Shaq did what he wanted and nobody was gonna tell him differently.

Unfortunately, after 19 years in the NBA, the newly named “Big AARP” announced his retirement. I personally am saddened by this news, because we don’t get to see him dwarf basically every player in the NBA that he stands beside anymore, or watch him gallop down the course like a big minotaur.

The announcement of his retirement also excites me very much because this means we finally get what I have been saying he needed to do for YEARS: commentate. Now, obviously he isn’t going to be joining Marv Albert and Reggie Miller on the sidelines calling the games anytime soon, but how far off is it to think that Shaq is going to be sitting across from Charles Barkley on TNT next season? Think of the TV gold that would be, and the control room nightmare for the bleep button. Maybe we can finally get some explanation for this EPIC fight…

Anyway, I didn’t write this blog to give a run-down of his career or anything, but just to say Thanks Shaq, you’re the man, I forgive you for leaving Orlando after getting swept by the Rockets, and you proved time-and-time again truly can’t stop and won’t ever stop the reign.

Steady White Girl Mobbin’

Meet Kreayshawn. Pronounced KRAY-SHAWN (not cre-ation).

This little 21 year old white girl from Oakland, California is easily having the best week ever. Her BANGER track “Gucci Gucci” has amassed nearly 2 million views in a matter of 2 weeks and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. I have taken a slight obsession to this girl and her crew, White Girl Mob (which consist of her, Lil Debbie, and V-Nasty), for their sheer sense of guerilla campaigning that now has them being the talk of the hip hop nation. Not only does this girl have a one of a kind style, she has some catchy ass lines, take a listen.

“Catch me at your college campus, baggie full of adderall”

You can read her biography on pretty much every given hip hop/fashion blog on the internet (Complex has the best one I’ve read so far) so I’ll spare you of that.

Podcast #42: Kreayshawn – Knocksteady Live by knocksteady

What I wanna know is, who is the first promoter in Orlando that is going to strike when the iron is red hot and bring the White Girl Mob to our city? If it’s anything like the turnaround from when we posted a blog about a little up and comer named Mac Miller, hopefully it will be soon. Oh, and if anybody does bring her in to town, I would love to offer my DJing services as well as being a chauffeur for WGM.

The Donk and I took it upon ourselves to take our recent infatuation with Kreayshawn and her love of screw music and turn it into something so we took her video and poured a pint of lean over it and this was the result. (Download track here)

Supposedly this girl has signed a big money deal with a label but is being very hush about it. I personally think she should have let her brand marinate a little longer and let the bidding war get as high as possible (like she stays) but that’s just me. At the same time, if some company wanted to hire to me DJ based off one remix I made, my ass would be asking for a pen too so whatever, I can understand both sides of it.

Be on the lookout for more from Kreayshawn and the White Girl Mob and 2-3 months from now when you are bothering every DJ in town to play “Gucci Gucci”, remember where you head it FIRST, and don’t act like you already know about it cause I’ve been playing this song in the club all week and everybody’s sleeping when it drops!!

UPDATE: Kreayshawn has officially signed a record deal with Sony/Columbia supposedly for six figures. Full length album suppose to drop in the fall.
